Degree Student Rules


Student Rules

  1. Each student must attend a minimum of 80 % of total class time. Failure to do so will result in loss of credit for that semester.
  2. Students arriving in class after 8:05 a.m. will be marked absent. Students are not permitted to be out of class during class time. Students leaving class early will be marked absent. Students attempting to falsify attendance records will be suspended.
  3. Students must maintain a tidy appearance. T-shirts and slippers are not permitted in the class. Unshaven face, untidy hair, sunglasses, unbuttoned shirts and unwashed clothes are not to be worn in the class. Women must dress modestly.
  4. No student is permitted to start a special relationship with another student of the opposite gender. Students who break this rule will be suspended.
  5. All forms of dishonesty will be corrected. Students who steal or cheat or take forbidden substances such as alcohol, drugs or tobacco will be suspended.
  6. Every student shall take part in labour and all other activities as directed by the school.
  7. No student is to use another student as his or her servant, neither are second year students superior to first year students.
  8. Students are required to pay their financial dues by the date stipulated by the office or not be allowed to enter the class.
  9. No ANFCBII student is permitted into any BIU building without an official assignment.

Hostel Rules

  1. Lights out at 11:00 p.m., after which no noise or movement is permitted.
  2. No food or drink is permitted in the hostels.
  3. Students are not permitted in the kitchen and must respond to meal times promptly or miss their meal.
  4. Students must not travel without prior permission from the office. Travel is permitted only 3 times per semester.
  5. Males shall not enter female hostel or females enter male hostels at any time. The privacy of female boarding students must be fully respected.
  6. Students must not exit their hostel into the corridors without being fully dressed.

Day Student Rules

  1. Every day student must attend a minimum of 80% of day student group meetings to obtain credit for the semester. Students who falsify these attendance records will be suspended.
  2. Every day student shall take part with their group in one three-day outreach crusade per semester.
  3. Every day student must do their portion of labour as assigned by the office, or pay double their school fees.

Note:

  1. A student is matriculated into this school only on the understanding that the student keeps these rules and the Student Honour Code and that failure to do so will result in any disciplinary action that the school office deems necessary to maintain order in the school.
  2. School rules and the Student Honour Code must be kept by each student to qualify them to graduate at the end of their course.

Evening College Rules

  1. Each student must attend a minimum of 80% of total class time. Failure to do so will result in loss of credit for that semester. The student will have to repeat the semester in full.
  2. Students arriving in class after 5:45 p.m. will be marked absent. Students are not permitted to be out of the class during class time. Students leaving class early will be marked absent. Students attempting to falsify attendance records will be suspended.
  3. Students must maintain a tidy appearance. T-shirts and slippers are not permitted in the class. Unshaven face, untidy hair, sunglasses, unbuttoned shirts and unwashed, unironed clothes are not to be worn in the class. Women must dress modestly.
  4. All forms of dishonesty will be corrected. Students who steal or cheat or who take forbidden substances such as alcohol, drugs or tobacco will be suspended.
  5. Students not respecting prefects, lecturers or staff will undergo disciplinary action. Students must maintain complete order during prayer, worship and while being addressed by prefects or staff.
  6. Students are required to pay their financial dues by the date stipulated by the office or not to be allowed into the class.

Note:

    A student is matriculated into this school only on the understanding that the student keeps these rules and the student Honour Code and that failure to do so will result in any disciplinary action that the school deems necessary to maintain order in the school.

    Each student must keep all school rules and the student Honour Code to qualify them to graduate at the end of their course.

Degree Student Rules

  1. Every student must observe lights out at 11:00 p.m. Silence must be observed after this time.
  2. Every student must vacate hostels by 8:00 a.m. to attend classes or read in the degree library.
  3. Every student must attend chapel in the main lecture auditorium each Thursday at 12:00 noon and at any other time announced by the school office.
  4. Each student who fails to comply with these directives will receive correction from the degree prefect body including labour, or suspension from the school if the former does not result in an appropriate change of student behaviour.
  5. Students must maintain a tidy appearance. T-shirts and slippers are not permitted in the class or degree library. Unshaven face, untidy hair, sunglasses, unbuttoned shirts and unwashed clothes are not to be worn in the class or degree library. Women must dress modestly.
  6. All forms of dishonesty and or immoral behaviour will be corrected. Students who steal or cheat or who take forbidden substances such as alcohol, drugs or tobacco will be suspended.
  7. Students are required to do their own work for all projects and examinations. Students who devise means of copying from the books or exams and projects of former students will not gain credit for that semester. Students must learn academic ethics befitting degree studies and not copy other people's words or ideas out of the textbooks without full and proper quotation and referencing made.
  8. Every student must recognize that he/she is part of the wider school body, giving the respect that is due to others. Students shall not treat others as less important than themselves or in any arrogant or competitive manner. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. Show your advancement only by your exemplary behaviour in labour and service to others including the least.
  9. Students are required to pay their financial dues by the date stipulated by the office or not be allowed to enter class.
  10. No student is permitted to use another student as his/her servant, whether from the degree or diploma section. Students in lower grade do not have fewer rights than any other student. All students at whatever grade must serve each other in Christ.
  11. No student is allowed into B.I.U. buildings without an official assignment. Students wishing to show their maturity or power in Christ and knowledge must do so by compliance with above directives and not in foolishness of thought, speech or action.
